Meet the Team
Israel Regus is the executive director for Solstice Senior Living at Apple Valley. Prior to this role, Israel held positions as Maintenance director and Health and Wellness director. Before joining the team, Israel dedicated his career to skilled nursing, where he excelled for several years until transitioning into marketing. Born and raised in East Los Angeles County, Israel moved to the High Desert in 1993, where he has resided ever since. He has been happily married for several years and has two daughters. Israel is passionate about giving back to the community and is looking forward to working with all of the Solstice residents.
Director of Sales and Marketing
Angele Laib is the director of Sales and Marketing for Solstice at Apple Valley. She’s been with the community for 10 years and enjoys coming to work every day. Previously, she held the title of Vibrant Life director for five years.
Her background is in early childhood education, and she spent nearly 10 years in various teacher and director roles at schools in Alhambra and Victorville.
She enjoys building relationships with her residents and their families – she considers it very rewarding work. Her tagline is “I once called the parents about the kids, but now call the kids about the parents!”
She looks forward to meeting potential residents and being able to help explain and navigate senior living options.
Vibrant Life® Director
Amanda Varela is the Vibrant Life® director for Solstice Senior Living at Apple Valley. Amanda was born and raised in Apple Valley and has been with the Solstice team for almost three years. She started as a part-time server, caregiver and housekeeper at Solstice and is now a member of our management team. Amanda truly loves coming to work and enjoys caring for all of the residents. She has been happily married for 14 years and has four beautiful boys.
Culinary Services Director
Kevin Hundric has served as Culinary Services director with Solstice at Apple Valley since November 2021. Prior to this position, Kevin worked at a country club for over 10 years, holding the position of cook, sous chef and eventually executive chef, while also working as a barista at Starbucks.
His love for cooking began at a summer camp helping in the kitchen with meals. He graduated from the restaurant management program at Victor Valley Community College before furthering his career by graduating from Le Cordon Bleu Culinary Art Institute in Pasadena.
Kevin is dedicated to creating new and exciting dishes for residents and making each dining experience memorable.
Business Office Director
Yvette Velez moved to California in the early 1980s, but originally hails from New York. She started in property management in 1996 and moved into senior living in 2017. She is happily married with four children and enjoys dancing and cheering on the New York Giants.
Building Services Director
Steven Anaya became the Building Services director for Solstice at Apple Valley because he is passionate about providing great service and enjoys building a rapport with each of our residents.
He has a background in property management and is a certified multi-family housing specialist with over 10 years’ experience as both a maintenance technician and community director. In his spare time, Steven enjoys listening to music and attending live performances.
